Earlier in the school year, the Illinois Secretary of State sent representatives to CMHS to present on distracted driving (simulator) and the dangers of driving under the influence of a substance. They returned this past Monday, March 13, 2023, to engage students in hands-on activities.
Illinois continues to be a national leader in traffic safety. Over the last decade, traffic fatalities in our state have declined significantly. This is largely due to innovative efforts to combat drunk and distracted driving and stronger guidelines for new teen drivers.
Distracted driving continues to be a serious hazard on Illinois roadways, especially with young drivers. Cellphone use and texting while driving are prohibited for all drivers, regardless of age. Working as a team with the Secretary of State, educators strive to ensure that our newest, youngest drivers are well-prepared to enjoy a lifetime of safe and responsible driving.
We appreciate this partnership and look forward to our students being SAFE DRIVERS and earning that distinction on their driver's licenses.
