On April 22, two outstanding Crete-Monee High School NJROTC Program cadets were honored with the prestigious Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Youth Leadership Medal.
This medal is awarded to deserving cadets from grades 9 through 11 who exemplify the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism.
The awards were presented by members of the Sauk Trail Chapter of the DAR—Jan Corbett, Marilyn Tapajna, Kathy King, Nancy Shlae, and Loleta Knight—during a special ceremony recognizing the cadets' dedication and leadership.
Cadet Jason Farquhar was awarded the DAR Bronze Medal & Certificate. He is currently a junior and serves as the senior supply officer, a role that requires strong organizational skills, accountability, and a high level of responsibility. His commitment to excellence in managing the unit’s supplies and logistics sets a commendable standard within the program.
Cadet Takyla Lockridge received the DAR Youth Leadership/Citizenship Award. A multi-talented leader, she is a sophomore, a member of the color guard team, and the commander of the new cadet drill team. She has devoted countless hours to training and mentoring new cadets, playing a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of NJROTC leaders.
These honors reflect not only the personal achievements of Cadets Farquhar and Lockridge but also the strength and success of the Crete-Monee NJROTC Program in fostering leadership and civic responsibility.
