Rachel Perry as Distinguished CadetFor the week of June 16th, CMHS Student Rachel Perry of NJROTC was one of 15 cadets who attended Basic Leadership Training Camp at the Army National Guard Base in Marseille, Illinois. Rachel was initially nervous about the experience, but she was excited to meet cadets from other schools. As the only girl from CMHS in her company, Rachel became the only Distinguished Cadet for CMHS NJROTC and recieved a Challenge Coin from Petty Officer Reed for her leadership in teamwork and motivating others. At the camp, she trained in martial arts with US Marines, learned Cadence Calls, and pushed her limits in PT. Rachel enjoyed the orienteering experience, learning land navigation and survival skills. Rachel's parents are very excited that their daughter was able to learn basic military skills and receive training in leadership qualities through BLT during her freshman year at CMHS.
