Get to Know Amy Adamow

Amy Adamow is beginning her 13th year in education. She spent a decade with Peoria Public Schools in Peoria, Illinois, where she worked with students from a variety of socioeconomic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. During her time in Peoria, Amy served as an English teacher at Peoria High School for seven years. She also held the position of English Department Chair for one year, and coached JV volleyball for two seasons and the varsity volleyball team for four seasons. Her contributions were recognized when she was nominated for the Kiwanis Teacher of the Year and the Mary Maxwell Teacher of the Year awards.

In 2019, Amy transitioned to an administrative role as an Assistant Principal at Richwoods High School in Peoria, where she served for three years. In this role, she focused on sophomore students and contributed significantly to school improvement efforts. In 2022, Amy moved closer to her family and took on the role of Assistant Principal at Peotone High School, where she worked for the past two years. Her dedication to creating tailored educational experiences for each student led her to her current position at CMHS.

Inspired by the impactful teachers she had in high school, Amy always aspired to become an educator. She began her higher education at Moraine Valley Community College, earning her Associate's Degree on a full scholarship, graduating debt-free. She then pursued a Bachelor's Degree in English Education from Illinois State University, a place she enjoyed so much that she continued there for her Master's Degree in Educational Administration.

Amy values family deeply and enjoys spending time with her close-knit family, including her parents, two brothers, three nephews, and two nieces, attending many of their events. She is an active individual who enjoys playing volleyball and badminton.

For the upcoming school year, Amy has set the following goals:

  1. Establishing systems, processes, and documentation to support the success of the Bridges program and all students.

  2. Fostering teamwork and collaborative approaches through open communication to build a strong community and promote continuous learning.

  3. Ensuring that students receive the highest quality teaching and learning experiences.

Amy is enthusiastic about her role as Assistant Principal, which officially started on July 1. She is looking forward to rebranding the Bridges program and creating diverse pathways for student success. She also looks forward to working with students, staff, and the community to build bridges, empower students, and drive success.
