Students serving at Coffee ConnectionHave you heard of the Coffee Connection program?

Coffee Connection is run by the students in the Transition Education Program (TEP) and is funded by the Crete Public Library. This program runs Monday through Thursday both in the mornings and afternoons.

In the mornings, students have an opportunity to job train at the Crete Library. There is a wonderful little coffee shop on the second floor of the Crete Public Library called Coffee Connection where students learn how to bus tables, grind coffee beans, prepare the coffee, and work on their money skills while taking the customer's order. Students return to CMHS in the afternoon and prepare a coffee cart to sell hot beverages to all staff.

Students Malik Fortinberry and Jalen Holt are pictured from this past week selling coffee to staff at CMHS. These students not only learn job skills but social skills are also reinforced. Coffee Connection is in its 20th year at CMHS! This November, the Crete Public Library and the students in the Transition Program will be celebrating the success of the program. Thank you to all who support this program!

If you haven’t checked out the Coffee Connection at the Crete Public Library, stop in between 10 a.m. and noon Monday through Thursday during the school year to support this program!
